A leading residential development organisation is seeking an experienced Design Manager to join its development team and take responsibility for the successful delivery of the design process across major residential schemes.

This is a key role managing projects from RIBA Stage 0–3, with individual schemes up to £60m GDV, ensuring designs are commercially robust, high quality, compliant and deliverable.

The Role
You will lead the complete design process on major residential developments, coordinating multidisciplinary consultant teams and working closely with project and development colleagues to ensure schemes are designed to programme, cost and quality targets. You will play a central role in risk management, procurement of designers, and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design process from concept to planning across residential schemes

  • Procure and manage architects, consultants and designers

  • Ensure projects meet cost, quality, programme and commercial objectives

  • Coordinate internal teams and external stakeholders

  • Implement risk and opportunity management strategies

  • Provide design leadership and support to project management teams

  • Report progress and risks to Directors and Project Boards

  • Represent the organisation at meetings, presentations and public forums

About You

  • Degree qualified with professional membership (e.g. RIBA, CIOB, ICE) or equivalent experience

  • Proven experience delivering major residential projects in the private development sector

  • Strong design management, programme and commercial skills

  • Experienced in managing multidisciplinary consultant teams

  • Excellent communicator with strong stakeholder management capability

  • Commercially aware with a focus on value, quality and deliverability

Desirable

  • Architectural or construction background

  • Experience working across both public and private sectors

An established and growing residential development group is seeking to appoint a Head of Projects to join its Senior Leadership Team. This is a key strategic role responsible for leading the successful delivery of a major housing programme, including high-value residential developments of up to £50m.

The organisation has an ambitious development pipeline of approximately 1,300 homes across the South West over the next five years and is looking for an experienced professional with a proven track record in delivering high-quality residential projects.

The Role
You will lead all aspects of project and commercial management across major developments, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the highest standards. You will provide strategic leadership, oversee procurement, manage consultants and contractors, control commercial risk, and advise the Executive Team and Board.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead delivery of major residential schemes from inception to completion

  • Provide commercial and contractual leadership, including variations and final accounts

  • Oversee procurement of consultants and contractors in line with legislation and best practice

  • Ensure robust health, safety and compliance standards

  • Implement best-practice project management systems and processes

  • Manage and develop a high-performing project management team

  • Report progress, risks and performance to the Executive Team and Board

  • Represent the organisation with key stakeholders, partners and funding bodies

About You

  • Degree qualified with professional membership (e.g. RICS, CIOB, ICE, APM) or equivalent experience
