Responsibilities

• Project Leadership**: Plan, design, deliver, and oversee infrastructure works for housing developments, including roads, drainage systems, and utility networks.
• Technical Expertise**: Provide expert input in civil engineering processes, infrastructure design, and adherence to regulatory standards within Wales and the Southwest.
• Collaboration**: Work closely with architects, contractors, and local authorities to ensure each project reflects community needs, integrates seamlessly into existing infrastructure, and meets all safety and quality standards.
• Problem Solving**: Identify and resolve engineering challenges proactively, ensuring timely and cost-effective solutions.
• Compliance**: Ensure all projects comply with current legislation, sustainable practices, and environmental considerations.
• Reporting**: Prepare detailed reports, specifications, and documentation to support project presentations and approvals.-Mentorship**: Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of continuous learning and collaboration within the team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or the willingness to work towards achieving it.
• Proven experience in infrastructure works for housing developments, with a focus on design and construction.
• Proficiency in civil engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civils 3D, or similar tools).
• Strong understanding of regulatory requirements, planning approval processes, and sustainability practices.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills, with a proven ability to engage and collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.

• Valid driver’s license and the willingness to travel throughout Wales and the Southwest as required.

Day-to-Day

• Coordinate and lead project design meetings with stakeholders to define goals and progress.
• Conduct site visits to monitor project progress and ensure compliance with plans and safety standards.
• Review and approve technical designs, drawings, and calculations related to infrastructure systems.
• Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and planning authorities to maintain strong professional relationships.
• Champion sustainable practices in all stages of infrastructure design and development for housing.
• Mentor and support junior engineers by reviewing their work, providing constructive feedback, and encouraging professional development.
• Respond to project-related inquiries or challenges promptly to avoid delays or disruptions.

Key Responsibilities

Regional Financial Leadership

• Lead the financial management of the South West business unit, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and reporting.
• Partner with the Regional Managing Director to drive profitable growth and operational efficiency.
• Provide financial input into key business decisions including land acquisition, development appraisals, pricing strategy, and margin improvement.

Financial Planning, Control & Reporting

• Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts, forecasts, and board reports.
• Monitor performance against budgets and KPIs; identify risks and opportunities early.
• Ensure compliance with group accounting policies and internal controls.

Commercial & Operational Support

• Support the Land, Commercial, and Construction teams with robust financial modelling and scenario planning.

What you will bring

Essential:

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
• Strong post-qualification experience in a senior finance role, ideally within housebuilding, construction, or property development.
• Commercially focused, with experience working alongside operational and land teams.
• Proven leadership of finance teams in a regional or business-unit structure.
• Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Desirable:

• Previous experience working for a regional business within a national group.
• Working knowledge of COINS or similar industry-specific ERP/finance systems.

This is a key role bridging design and planning, where you will lead and manage design development through RIBA Stages 1 to 5. You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders, architects, and consultants to shape the design vision and ensure a smooth transition from concept to technical delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design process from early concept (RIBA Stage 1) through to construction (Stage 5)

• Oversee and coordinate design input from architects and consultants

• Prepare and manage planning submissions and applications in line with project timelines

• Support the technical team post-planning with design intent and technical compliance

• Ensure all designs are aligned with planning policies, building regulations, and the company’s high standards of quality and design

Ideal Candidate

• Proven experience working across RIBA Stages 1–5

• Strong design background (architecture, urban design, or similar discipline)

• Experience working on large-scale residential developments, including both planning and technical delivery phases

• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines concurrently
