The Role

You’ll be joining a contractor with a diverse project portfolio and a strong order book, with current and upcoming work including all locally based.

  • Social housing projects in Bristol & Birmingham (up to £5.5m)

  • Industrial units, care homes, and new build housing

  • Opportunities to work alongside their sister companies undertaking a wide variety of specialist projects.

What They’re Looking For

  • Ideally from a Tier 2 main contractor/refurbishment background

  • Commercially aware, proactive, and confident in managing projects from start to finish.

🔍 Your role will include:

  • Managing project costs from start to finish – budgeting, forecasting, and reporting

  • Overseeing contracts and ensuring everything runs smoothly and compliantly

  • Handling the tender process and negotiating with suppliers

  • Identifying value engineering opportunities without compromising on quality

  • Delivering accurate financial reports to senior leadership

  • Working with subcontractors, including overseeing variations and payments

  • Proactively identifying and mitigating project risks

  • Building great relationships with clients and project stakeholders


What we’re looking for:

  • A degree or HND in Quantity Surveying (or a closely related field)

  • Solid experience in quantity surveying—preferably on new build construction projects

  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills

  • Proficiency in industry-standard software

  • Membership of a professional body (e.g. RICS) is a plus

  • A collaborative, team-oriented approach

Responsibilities:

  1. Cost Management: Efficiently manage project costs, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.

  3. Tendering: Prepare and analyze tender documents, manage the tendering process, and negotiate contracts.
  4. Value Engineering: Identify opportunities for value engineering and cost-saving measures without compromising quality.
  5. Financial Reporting: Provide accurate and timely financial reports to senior management.
  6. Subcontractor Management: Evaluate and manage subcontractor performance, including payments and variations.
  7. Risk Management: Proactively identify and manage project risks, implementing mitigation strategies as needed.
  8. Client Relations: Build and maintain positive relationships with clients and stakeholders.

Requirements:

  1. Qualifications: Degree /HND in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
  2. Experience: Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, preferably on new build projects.
  3. Skills: Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills. Proficient in relevant software tools.
  4. Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively within a team and coordinate with various stakeholders.
